Award-Winning Soy Latino. Sí Voto Campaign Kicks off Voter Push in VA Ahead of Oct. 16 Voter Registration Deadline in Battleground State

VA voter outreach on National Voter Registration Day during  Hispanic Heritage Month sets stage for 2024 campaign targeting Latino vote in AZ, CA, FL, GA, NV, NM, PA, WI

ARLINGTON, VA – Corazón Latino, a leading national non-profit organization dedicated to advancing community well-being and environmental stewardship through a 'One Health' approach, will launch its 2023-24 award-winning Soy Latino. Sí Voto (SLSV) Latino voter engagement campaign in Virginia. The campaign will kick-off on September 19, 2023 during National Voter Registration Day and Hispanic Heritage Month at Cafe Sazón in Arlington, VA at 5:00 PM.

SLSV seeks to educate, inspire, empower and mobilize Latino voters ahead of the 2023 General Election in the Commonwealth and launch its nationwide expansion of the campaign leading up to the 2024 Presidential Election.

“Our goal is to reach 150,000 Virginia voters by November 2023 and over a million Latino voters across key states, including Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin in 2024,” said Felipe Benítez, Executive Director & Founder of Corazón Latino.

SLSV in Virginia will feature culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate educational materials that will highlight the significance of local positions that will be decided at the ballot box in November. These include the Virginia General Assembly (House Delegates and Senate), Clerk of Court, Sheriff, Board of Education, and the Commission for Soil and Water Conservation Board.

With jingles created by the Virginian-Venezuelan recording artist Jonathan Acosta, and art created by Herblock Prize winner Chicano artist Lalo Alcaraz, the campaign seeks to captivate the hearts and minds of Latino voters while addressing apathy, disappointment in politicians, and the prevalence of political disinformation.

SLSV also will use cutting-edge technology to reach voters with the right message at the right time, multiple times. We will use advanced segmentation targeting and retargeting voters through social media and multimedia text messaging (MMS)  as well as  through strategic grassroots efforts, reaching Latino voters and their families in the 100 zip codes with the density of Latino voters in the state. Additionally, the campaign will partner with local Spanish-language media, local celebrities, and influencers who will help amplify our messages.

“We know that important issues are discussed at the dinner table by Latino families, and emotions play a pivotal role in Latino voter participation. As such, SLSV's approach embraces these realities, ensuring that the campaign speaks to the heart of our community,” Benítez said.
