Coastal | Ocean Conservation

Corazón Latino is a seasoned leader in coastal and ocean conservation with a rich track record stretching over five years. Our most notable work is in the Northeastern Ecological Corridor of Puerto Rico where we have co-organized dozens of beach clean-ups and restoration projects. These efforts have significantly contributed to the rejuvenation of the local ecosystem, fostering a healthier and more resilient coastal environment.

In the Chesapeake Bay region, we have pioneered an extensive training program that has successfully equipped over 500 public lands managers, non-profit representatives, and conservation practitioners with skills in effective community engagement and conservation messaging. This has stimulated increased local involvement in conservation efforts and the cultivation of a shared sense of environmental stewardship.

Corazón Latino also takes pride in our collaboration with Goodwin Simon Strategic Research and Wonder: Strategies for Good, and the support from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, we successfully tested and validated their research "Heart wired to Love the Ocean" among Latino communities nationwide. Our work has helped to reveal and cultivate the deep-seated connection between these communities and ocean conservation, further highlighting the critical role of culturally responsive and inclusive strategies in environmental conservation efforts.

Our holistic approach combines the principles of conservation science, cultural relevance, community engagement, and environmental education. Through these initiatives, Corazón Latino is fostering more resilient communities, nurturing healthier ecosystems, and empowering individuals to become active stewards of their environment.
