Corazón Latino Hails Largest Climate Legislative Action in U.S. History

The Senate has passed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

Felipe Benitez, Executive Director and Founder of Corazón Latino, issued the following statement:

“Today is a joyous celebration for our Madre Tierra and for families across the nation who are experiencing an aggregation of emergencies from medical to climate disasters and now serious inflation. The Senate took the necessary, yet extraordinary, steps to unite around The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), a critical line of defense against ongoing health, financial, and climate catastrophes.

“The IRA includes unforseen provisions for the protection of our environment that are critical to long term sustainability of our ecosystems and the quality of life for our generation, as well as the generations to come. The climate action that we need has finally come- we know that when we take care of our Madre Tierra she will take care of us. We thank our senators for passing this life changing legislation and look forward to a better future for us all.

“It can be done! We are proud of advocates and organizations who have worked tirelessly to fight to protect our families and the environment, and today we also celebrate their success. We acknowledge that there are still many issues that remain insufficiently addressed but the IRA is our standing point to continue to fight for our future.”
